The Chequers is a delightful spot in the heart of the picturesque village of Ravensthorpe. Regulars and newcomers can expect a good choice of enjoyable reasonably priced meals, from light snacks to steaks & homemade staples. The quality of the food and the reasonable prices mean the pub can get busy, so bookings are advisable to avoid disappointment. Sundays are meant for Roasts, and so it is true here. There is always a choice of meats, with all the trimmings. Vegetarian/Vegan options are also available.
This Grade II listed cosy old creeper-clad brick pub set among modern residential development; consists of two rooms in an L shape arrangement with a bar to the front and a restaurant down the side. The pub is adorned with an eclectic mix of objects and pictures and there is a fine display to keep even the keenest of eye occupied.
Outside is an old outbuilding that houses Northamptonshire Hood Skittles. Children are not forgotten as there is an adventure play area to keep them happy, with a fine terrace area and covered area also making the outside space a comfortable area to enjoy. Over the first weekend in July the pub is virtually surrounded by vintage steam road vehicles driven down from the nearby Hollowell Steam and Heavy Horse Show and the sights and sounds are quite spectacular.
A family-run village pub since 1990, Gill and Patrick welcome you. All of the food is home-cooked for you to enjoy here at The Chequers, or to takeaway. They try their best to cater to all dietary requirements. If you have any questions, please ask.
