The Community First Responder role
Our Community First Responders (CFR) are trained to deliver life-saving skills, mainly in their local communities fro those who dial 999 or 111. Normally arriving at the scene before being backed up by an ambulance from East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS). Starting life-saving treatment early, means CFRs really do help save more lives. Community First Responders are trained in the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), basic airway management and oxygen therapy, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in the event of a cardiac arrest. We also attend patients who are suffering conditions such as Asthma attacks, Anaphylaxis, Strokes (CVA), Traumatic injuries. Community First Responders also have specialist training and equipment to deal with non-injury falls.
If you are physically fit, have access to a vehicle and want to make voluntary contribution to your community, why not think about becoming a Community First Responder? You will need to be able commit to 16 on-call hours a month as a minimum. All training and support will be provided by South Northants Community Responders.
